My Mai Tai is an adventure-comedy with a touch of spice and an element of mystery involving the humorous escapades of two feisty and fun-loving couples while vacationing in Hawaii. The story is based on a number of entertaining events personally experienced by the author. It presents a series of light hearted escapades that many North Americans, who have travelled to a vacation spot in a warm setting to escape the cold of winter, will relate to. Several colourful and eccentric characters are woven into the story line and an element of mystery is introduced through one of the local characters with connections to the underworld.

Autor

The author, Alan Taylor, held various positions in the workplace before embarking on his eventual career as a teacher and educational administrator. Among his roles were those of a commercial fisherman, prison guard, and grocery salesman. He spent several years as a commercial fisherman on the seas off the coasts of Washington State, British Columbia, and Alaska, followed by stints as a corrections officer in the prison system and a salesman in the food industry. All of the experiences gained in these endeavors added to his qualifications in life skills, helping to make him an effective teacher and administrator at both public school and university levels. He holds a doctorate degree in mathematics education and has written many technical papers in his field. My Mai Tai, however, is his first novel.
