Unlock the power inside your child by encouraging imaginative play. Imagination is an essential skill to cultivate in children because it helps them develop creativity, self-esteem, social awareness, and even critical thinking skills. Unstructured quiet time without access to technology allows children the freedom to develop this important creative muscle and is one of the best gifts you can give your young child. Encouraging kids to imagine their world around them as "whatever they want it to be" helps them develop a positive growth mindset, which has been shown in many studies to be an indicator of future success in life. The more they practice imaginative play, the more they will feel good about themselves and their ability to create and think independently. Often during imaginative play, children will use this time to work through their emotions and feelings. This provides an excellent opportunity for you to teach the power of intention and self-awareness. When children can label their feelings and notice when they are thinking thoughts that produce emotions that make them feel bad, they have the power inside them to choose different trains of thought, so they can have more clarity and find solutions easier. At the end of this book, you will find Connection Questions which give you the opportunity to discuss important topics around emotions and help them be intentional about their thoughts and actions. Reviewing and recalling examples of how new information as it relates to your own life is what lays down new neuropathways in the brain. Teaching your child to become more self-aware and share their love with others not only builds their confidence but also strengthens all five core skills for Social Emotional Learning. Autorenporträt
Sheila Alston is a new children's author whose mission is to publish books that empower young minds. The inspiration came from witnessing the pressure and stress that today's teens and young adults put on themselves. Unfortunately, teen anxiety is all too common. It can start as insecurity and lead to panic attacks, depression, or a whole host of chronic physical conditions. After embarking on her own healing journey to relieve stress, Sheila learned many coping skills that she attributes to her ability to now find peace and self-confidence and tap into her inner wisdom. She wants to inspire kids to learn these skills too, and weaves important messages into all of her books.
