He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He then obtained his Masters in Education from Bowling Green State University. Mr. Murphy possesses more than 30 years experience in public education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, culminating with 16 years as superintendent of schools in several communities. He is skilled in commencement speeches, news articles, and grant writing. He has also written, produced, and directed videos about school safety. The father of three grown children, he lives in Southport, North Carolina with his wife, Shirley.
