What I never expected, when setting out on this very difficult journey, was the total abandonment my family would suffer at the hands of the out-laws. My story is one of hope and sheer determination in the face of adversity. It definitely isn't what I would recommend for everyone, and I will not know if my choice has been the right one for some time. Nevertheless, I have no regrets about trying.
