Whether sharing intelligence on the Argentine military, seeking suitable airbases for British planes, or creating the perfect cover story to the world's media on why a British helicopter crew were found near the Chilean/Argentine border, Sidney was quietly but crucially affecting the outcome of the war. Based on reports to his superiors back in London - now available for the first time under the 30 year rule - Edwards' clear and compelling account reveals the frenetic and sensitive diplomatic activity that was going on behind the scenes during this short, intense war. Sidney Edwards served in the RAF for 31years, and was awarded the OBE, South Atlantic Medal and Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air. As well as the mission described in this book, Edwards completed tours as a jet instructor, served as Air Attaché at the British Embassy in Madrid, and commanded advanced jet flying at the RAF Central Flying School, which included the Red Arrows. He lives in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
