Autorenporträt
Amy Van Duyn wants to help change the world and the best way she knows how is by helping children. Her goal as a writer is to create books that will make kids feel good about themselves or provide a sweet story to be shared with a loved one during those sacred moments before bedtime when snuggled up together, book in hands. Being young-at-heart, the stories come naturally to her. She still gets excited to find the "monster" at the end of the book! "The world needs a sense of self worth, and it will achieve it only by its people feeling that they are worthwhile"-Fred Rogers As a child, reading was Amy's favorite hobby. She began writing poetry at a very young age. She remembers fondly her third grade teacher allowing her to share her creations by reading them aloud to the class. She enjoyed this so much that it created a foundation for a future writing career. This love of stories and poetry stayed with her throughout her life. It wasn't until she began sharing them again in her hometown's annual poetry contest that she would start to think that maybe her dream really could come true and began to pursue her writing career as a published author. As a mother, bedtime is sacred to her. Her favorite time of the day is snuggling up with her little one, all comfy in his pajamas, and sharing a story before it's time to say goodnight. Being a parent also makes her view the world differently. She wants to make the world a better place for her own child, as well as for every child. Having struggled with self esteem growing up, her work reflects these themes and is designed to give a child a sense of the importance of being who they are while also being nonjudgmental to others. She also enjoys creating sweet sentiments that are written to be a part of the loving foundation a child shares with family. When she's not spending time with her family and friends, writing, working, or reading, she enjoys hidden object puzzle-solving computer games, coloring books for grown-ups, eating chocolate, and soaking in a hot bubble bath.
