Autorenporträt
I truly appreciate your interest in picking up my first book, a compendium of stories I have written over the past 6 years for my local parish Knights of Columbus newsletter. With some limited wisdom over the seventy years of my life, I have learned to appreciate all the little gifts God has given me. I think the greatest gift is the ability to see the Lord working through the precious gift of Mother Nature. I grew up in poor surroundings and had to quit high school before my graduation because of the sickness and death of my father. Working full time became the necessity for myself and my mother if we were to keep a roof over our head and food on the table in our very small apartment. My dream of college and journalism took the back shelf for most of my life. A thirty nine year career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier was my best break and my love for my Lord who rescued me was never forgotten. Upon retirement in 2005, I became a teacher of religious education in our parish teaching high school age young men and women and continued my involvement in music ministry from 1976 till the present. I have been inspired by many kind people the Lord has sent me, but most importantly my wife Meg who has supported me, put up with me and stood by my side in my best and worst moments. My love for the English language and my faith has sustained me through thick and thin and God's unfailing memory has given me the opportunity to write the monthly column from which these little stories are taken and also other avenues to which I have been granted by His Grace. We have four adult children and nine grandchildren and reside in rural Pennsylvania with our four cats and a thousand birds. If you would like to write to me, feel free to Email me at pmcarp5@ptd.net. "This book is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Wallace Goddard who encouraged and supported me in this endeavor."
