Tapinoma melanocephalum have a special place in the myrmecological studies because of their typical behavior. They have been found significant in many of the social, economic and scientific studies. The present work describes in details about the behaviour, habitat, fooding habits, nest architecture of Tapinoma melanocephalum.To conduct the study, site has been selected in the regions of gardens, agricultural fields and roadside areas which are located in the city Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Following standard procedures and techniques of myrmecological studies, nests were excavated to collect the necessary data and ant samples for microscopic studies in the laboratory. Statistical parameters have been used to analyze their population, nest architecture and dimensions.
