R. Olin Jackson founded Legacy Communications, Inc., in 1985, where he became the award-winning executive editor and publisher of his flagship creations - North Georgia Journal and Georgia Backroads magazines. During his tenure at Legacy, Olin was the recipient of a number of awards from the Magazine Association of Georgia (MAG) for excellence in publishing. Olin parlayed his magazine publishing business into a long and fruitful career before selling it in 2005. Georgia Backroads is now under new ownership and enjoying its 37th year (as of 2023) of publication. It is one of the longest-running magazines in the state.Olin also wrote/co-wrote a selection of books, including "Moonshine, Murder and Mayhem in Georgia" (2003); "Tales of the Rails in Georgia" (2004); "Georgia Backroads Traveler" (2005); and "Georgia's Doc Holliday" (2006) among others.In 2021, Olin founded Whippoorwill Publications, LLC. His current projects there include: "Mystery and History in Georgia, Volume I" (2022) which was honored with a "Five-Star Award" by Readers' Favorite book awards (available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and IngramSpark.com); "Some Genealogy Keys to Some Georgia Family Trees: Histories and Genealogies of Assorted Jackson, Fricks, Neel, Anderson, Jordan, Gravatt, Hudgins, Tanner, Pettyjohn and Rogers Family Lines" (2023) (also available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and IngramSpark.com); and "Memories of Army Life and MPs of the 529th: The Story of the Top Military Police Company in the U.S. Army." Other works in progress include a selection of original poetry entitled "After All That We've Been Through."Olin is married to the former Judy Grizzle of Dahlonega, Georgia. The couple make their home in Roswell and Rockmart, Georgia. Olin also has a son - Burke - by a former marriage.
