The outcome of this book is a new class of multi-functional polymer nanocomposites containing well dispersed nano-scaled graphene plates. Like carbon nanotubes, graphene sheets exhibit attractive properties, can be readily mass-produced and are expected to become available at much lower costs and in larger quantities. When incorporated as a nanofiller in a matrix, isolated graphene sheets can impart exceptional mechanical and electrical properties. This work focuses on the development of methods to identify and electrically characterize individual and packed graphene sheets; analysis of dispersion degree of nanofillers in solvents and 2D and 3D analisys of network structures of nanofillers in polymer matrices, relating organisation/morphology of nanocomposites with their (functional) properties and ultimate performance.
Autorenporträt
Marcos was born in Brazil, where he studied Materials Engineering and received his bachelor diploma. From 2005 to 2007 he coursed the Joint European Master in Materials Science (EMMS) with final work focused on fiber reinforced composites. In 2008 he started a PhD project related to graphene. The most important results are presented in this book.
