A facile polyol strategy was designed to prepare ultra thin Pd nano sheath over Ag nanowires (NWs) as metal-metal core shell nanostructures. A facile polyol strategy was designed to prepare ultra thin Pd nano sheath over Ag nanowires (NWs) as metal-metal core shell nanostructures. In typical procedure, growing Ag NWs were utilized to assemble nano-Pd around its surface in single pot reaction. Pd salt was reduced with different time interval during the growth process of Ag NWs. The particular solution of Pd salt was introduced after 20, 30- and 40-minutes to the growing Ag NWs and product was designated as Ag@Pd 20, 30, and 40. Morphology of each product was characterized by SEM coupled with EDX. XRD was employed to characterize the composite material. UV-Visible was used to study SPR of composite and pure materials. Similarly, Fluorescence of each product was characterized by PL spectrophotometer. Finally, the catalytic reduction of nitrophenol into amino phenol by ultra thin sheet of Pd of each product was investigated and reaction order was ascertained.
