The new era of nanotechnology, where the survival age of the population is increasing, scientists are now looking for options to construct biologic substitutes with the help of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The term nanotechnology is "The creation and utilization of materials, devices, and systems through the control of matter on the nanometer scale (1-100 nm), i.e. at the level of atoms, molecules, and supramolecular structures." Nanodentistry is the science and technology of diagnosing, treating, preventing diseases, relieving pain, preserving and improving human health using nanoscale structured materials and nanorobotics. New potential treatment opportunities include, local anaesthesia, dentition renaturalization, permanent hypersensitivity cure, and continuous oral health maintenance using mechanical dentifrobots. Although the goal of complete regeneration of the periodontal tissues (cementum, periodontal ligament and bone) for periodontal management may not be completely possible, recent developments in nanotechnology have provided a promising insight into the commercial applications of nanomaterials in the management of periodontal diseases.
