This book includes the narratives of four ESL teachers who were in the military. There stories were analyzed through the lense of discourse analysis. The study reveals that there are military values embedded in the narratives of these teachers and that these values and beliefs continue to influence the teaching of these educators. Pedagogical implications are discussed in ralation to the teaching of ESL students and the need for teachers with a military background to reflect on how their values and beliefs influence their teaching practices. This study also views the use of narratives for teachers as a tool that enables educators and policy makers to reflect on their experiences in order to improve not only their teaching practices, but also to better understand the factors that influence the curriculum and methodologies that they follow in their classrooms.
