The episodes of the second season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. Naruto: Shippuden is a continuation of the Naruto manga series by Kishimoto, and continues the same storyline after the passing of two and a half years in the fictional Naruto universe. The second season was broadcast on TV Tokyo in Japan, from November 8, 2007 to April 3, 2008. The season was later released on DVD in Japan over five discs between April 8 and August 8, 2008. The season was referred to by these DVDs as the chapter of Long-Awaited Reunion.On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes. The English dub of this season will start airing on April 28, 2010. The opening theme forthis season is "Distance" by Long Shot Party. The ending themess are "Kimi Monogatari" by Little by Little, which is used for episodes 31 to 41, and "Mezamero! Yasei" by Matchy with Question?, which is used from episodes 42 to 53.
