It was established in 1976, making it one of the oldest NASCAR-specific publications still around today. NASCAR Scene has a sister publication, NASCAR Illustrated, a monthly NASCAR lifestyle magazine format, that is also published by Street & Smith's. Scene sells subscriptions for up to 2 years, and the Newsstand price is $2.99 an issue. On January 6, 2010, NASCAR Scene announced it would be ceasing its weekly publication and that it would be merging with NASCAR Illustrated. The merger is scheduled to go into effect in February. Many of the current writers for the NASCAR Scene will be writing for the enhanced NASCAR Illustrated, which will be adding coverage of the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series.
