RESUMOThis book is an evaluative research had as object of study the National Plan for Training of Teachers of Basic Education (PARFOR). It is an investigation of the procedural type with focus on the implementation of this policy on the Campus of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão, located in the city of Codó. Historically, teacher training has proved to be a challenge in the field of educational policies and, therefore, several initiatives have been built aiming to overcome this problem. These initiatives have as a remarkable characteristic the lack of continuity. The evaluation of a policy in general points in two directions, namely: the improvement of the evaluated policy and the production of academic knowledge. There is no demerit to researchers who focus on one or the other approach, since both are important both from an academic and social point of view. For this study, efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness indicators were chosen. The research data was elaborated through primary and secondary sources, which encompass a wide repertoire of documents, laws, interviews with managers and students.
