There are over 2,700km of national primary roads: at present over 500km of national primary routes consist of motorways and dual carriageway (including 2+2 roads) with a further 431km of motorway and dual carriageway (mainly high-quality dual carriageway) under construction and due for completion by the end of 2010. Once these motorway and dual carriageway projects are completed, about 43% of the national primary route network will consist of either motorway, dual carriageway or 2+2 road.
