The National Sea Rescue Institution (NSRI) is a voluntary non-profit organization in South Africa tasked with saving lives at sea. It consists of 29 coastal stations and 3 inland stations serviced by 880 volunteers equipped with 72 rescue craft and 21 vehicles. The NSRI works closely with other Search and rescue organisations in South Africa, including the South African Search and Rescue Organisation, VEMA High Angle Rescue in KwaZulu Natal, the South African Navy and the South African Air Force to coordinate air-sea rescue as well as rescue on land.
