National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (Ukrainian: ), locally referred by its abbreviation RNBO, is an organizational state body in Ukraine tasked with developing national security policy on domestic and international matters in advising the President of Ukraine (currently Viktor Yanukovych). The Council was originally created in 1992 as the National Security Council, but significantly revamped and strengthened under President Leonid Kuchma in 1994. The head of the council is the President of Ukraine assisted by secretary whom he is allowed to appoint.
