Animal Husbandry, important component of Agricultural Production System, plays vital role in income generation of people living in rural and semi-rural areas of Assam, India. Poultry farming is a popular economic activity under Animal Husbandry sector. In rural areas, particularly in tribal areas of Assam, India native or indigenous poultry rearing is very popular and people prefer eggs and meat of native fowls than commercial strains. The native fowl comprises about 55.74% of the total poultry of Assam. The book is based on studies on native laying fowls of Assam. It consists of seven chapters wherein importance of native fowl for rural economy of Assam, effect of protein and energy on growth rate, egg production, blood picture, utilization of nutrients and economics have elaborately been discussed.
