The book entitled "Nature and outcome of Stroke in Zambia" describes cerebrovascular diseases as it occurred at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka Zambia. Patients were relatively younger compared to western patients and had a high percentage of intracerebral haemorrhage. The book also describes the risk factors of stroke in this population mainly of African descent. Africa disease burden is undergoing an epidemiological transition from predominantly infectious and poverty-related to non-communicable diseases burden. The non-communicable illness more frequently encountered are diabetes mellitus, hypertension and stroke.
