NBN Television is a television station based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. The station was inaugurated on 4 March 1962 as the first regional commercial television station in New South Wales, and has since expanded to 39 transmitters throughout the northern half of New South Wales and parts of South East Queensland, including Tamworth, Tweed Heads, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Hunter Valley and the Gold Coast. The station''s name, NBN, stands for Newcastle Broadcasting New South Wales. NBN is the only regional station in Australia to produce a one-hour news bulletin seven days a week. On 9 May 2007, NBN Television was purchased for AU$250 million by PBL Media.
