O autor tem um doutoramento em Bacteriologia Veterinária pelo ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Índia. Os seus principais interesses de investigação incluem o estudo da resistência antimicrobiana em agentes patogénicos de gado e aves de capoeira, a leptospirose em animais e seres humanos, bacteriófagos contra agentes patogénicos zoonóticos/alimentares, vacinas bacterianas
