In 2005, after 20 years of working for an Australian State Government Schools Teaching Service, author Kevin Munro suffered a severe bipolar nervous breakdown. To keep up his literary skills, he began to write. In Netted Rainbows, Munro "documents" his illness through poems he wrote between 2005 and 2009 in Sydney, Australia. His record is filled with the "pain" of bipolar disorder, complete with the mania and depression he suffered and overcame. He challenges readers to identify the different stages of his illness through reading his works, and believes they could come away being a "lay" professional. Although Kevin Munro has written since high school and has had his work published in minor anthologies, this is his first published collection of works. He felt the "the need to produce something worthwhile" as his world tumbled about him. A Sydney native, Munro has a master's degree in education from the University of Western Sydney, taught special education for 20 years and is now living on a pension. He is truly encouraged by former students: "I have kept in the back of my mind the students that I have seen rise above situations much worse than mine!"
