The companies practicing network marketing takes unconventional way of promotion like word-of-mouth communication, rather than taking conventional way of promotion through mass media advertisements by making intermediaries absolutely unwanted. The concept of network marketing has mushroomed as a universal concept in the last few years. A number of foreign companies have already established their presence in West Bengal, like Amway, Oriflame, Tupperware, Avon and many more are exploring this lucrative market. So author felt that it would be important to know how far the products of network marketing companies are acceptable in Kolkata and its Outskirts.

Dr. Mrinal Kanti Das is serving as Assistant Professor in Commerce at Kanchrapara College, Kanchrapara, West Bengal. Before that he was at Centre for Management Studies, JISCE, Kalyani. One scholar has already been awarded PhD degree under his supervision. He has a number of research articles in Journal and conference proceedings to his credit.
