A History of Post-Medieval German Literature. From the "Ackermann" to Günter Grass.
This "History of Post-Medieval German Literature" covers the period from 1400 to the present. Its 12 chapters reflect the main epochs of the history of German literature and attempt a coherent description of the literary development in its cultural and social contexts. Alongside classical authors and works, due consideration is also given to the historical significance of less well-known traditions, outsiders and minor genres. This new "History" thus provides a concise and reliable historical basis for the teaching of literature in schools and universities as well as for private study.
