There are no prisons. Some may believe that humanity had culled the species enough to be spread so thinly across the habitable world, that cohabitation is possible. But no-one may step outside; all remain "protected" within a glass-covered fate - towns, villages and sparse cities within outer buildings. To perceive this place as "the cage" invites trouble for the individual and they are treated to sessions of Neural Rehab - where interactive Virtual Reality scenarios are played out directly within the brain, to reintegrate, though not every patient is able to let go. A former guest of the Neural Rehab programme (Xanthe Coustoe) has been placed back into a menial existence within society, where it is thought she can do no further harm. However, her skills and cunning are not forgotten; neither is her conviction that beneath the surface, much darker deeds exist. She is determined to expose the propaganda and the evil, and knows exactly how and where to acquire the help she needs.
