The diseases which affect neurons and lead to the loss of function or structure within them are known as neurodegenerative diseases. Some of the major examples of these diseases are Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and multiple sclerosis. The mechanisms of these diseases range from epigenetic to genetic and intracellular. There is another class of neurodegenerative diseases known as proteopathies which are caused due to the aggregation of misfolded proteins. The research on the therapeutics for these diseases is still ongoing as no cure has been found yet. There are similarities between these diseases at the subcellular level, which suggests that the development of a cure for a particular disease will be beneficial to people suffering from other neurodegenerative diseases. This book is a valuable compilation of topics, comprising neurobiological and therapeutic studies on neurodegenerative diseases. It will serve as a valuable source of reference for graduate and post graduate students.
