The methanolic and hydroalcoholic extracts of Murraya Koeinigii & Nelumbo nucifera, were found to be safe and no toxicity was exhibited in mice up to 5 g/kg b.w.p.o. These extracts at a dose of 200 mg/kg exhibited significant neuropharmacological activity. The aqueous extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg, has considerable response and moderate activity. Based on the results of the present study of different extracts on psychopharmacological tests, we conclude that the extracts 200mg/kg possess strong CNS stimulant activity. Methanolic and hydro alcoholic extracts showed the CNS stimulant activity in dose dependent manner. The alteration in exploratory behaviour in animals is similar with the action of other CNS agents. A significant change in motor coordination and muscle relaxant activity was also noted in animals treated with crude extract. The results altogether indicates that the extract shows CNS stimulant activity.
