Autorenporträt
Grace Chapple is an emerging writer based on Gadigal land in Sydney, Australia. Grace completed her MFA in Writing for Performance at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2020. Her graduate play, Never Closer, was produced as part of Belvoir St Theatre's 2022 25A program. Never Closer has been longlisted for Theatre503's International Playwriting Award, and was a finalist for the Griffin Award, Rodney Seaborn Award, Shane & Catherine Brennan Playwriting Award, and AWGIE for Best Original Play. In 2022 Grace was selected to participate in the Australian Writers' Guild's inaugural First Break program for emerging screenwriters and is listed on the Pathways portal. Grace is currently developing a new musical, Paper Stars, with Miranda Middleton and Luke Byrne. The musical retelling of how PL Travers wrote Mary Poppins began life with Salty Theatre and Theatre Works through the Hatch Lab development residency and was given an industry presentation in 2021.
