Having a child is definitely a source of inspiration. Prior to the birth of his son Ronald Citron had never written a book for children. His creative efforts were dedicated to writing music and playing improvisations on the piano. When his son reached the age of three, Citron felt the inspiration to write a book specifically for him and Never Make a Grumph Angry came into existence.

Citron wrote the story, labored to draw the characters and copied the book and stapled it together to read to his son. He discovered his young child loved the book and wanted it read to him many times. The book became a source of great joy for the both of them.As the years went by Citron, in addition to the book Never Make a Grumph Angry, wrote other children's books to teach personal lessons as well as math concepts to the very young. His books include A Lesson for Mean Face, The Proudest Triangle, Not a String and the two coloring book series The Adventures of Bednore and The Adventures of Strauss and Henry. He has also written a book on clean humor, The Absolutely, Positively World's Worst Joke Book, with its emphasis on no gutter sexual references, no foul language, and no ethnic insults. He also wrote a book on honoring the Sabbath entitled A Journey Through Sabbaths Lost.Citron has advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering and Music Composition. In addition to writing his creativity extends to science, writing concert or classical music, and playing the piano.
