While New Employee Orientation (NEO) programs have been shown to socialize newcomers and increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities, there has been little research on the way to go about developing an effective orientation program. This book is meant to explore ways to effectively develop a NEO program that both properly socializes and technically trains new employees. Findings show that a well developed NEO can enhance a newcomer s experience throughout their career and it contributes to the overall bottom line of an organization. A great deal of time and money is spent every year socializing and technically training employees, making sure this investment is well spent should be a central concern.
