Solomon P. Wasser is a world leader in medicinal mushrooms study and fungal evolution, taxonomy, and biodiversity, especially in higher Basidiomycetes mushrooms. He has introduced 226 new scientific names for fungi, including 42 species of higher Basidiomycetes species. He has also developed and patented new dietary supplements with immunomodulating, cholesterol lowering, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and radical scavenging activities. He is founder and editor-in-chief of International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms, Algologia, and International Journal on Algae and is an author and coauthor of 600 scientific publications, including 57 books and 15 patents.
