Odontogenic lesions are a heterogeneous group of pathologies that affect the jaws. In the group of benign odontogenic lesions, odontogenic keratocysts and ameloblastomas stand out as benign lesions that show locally aggressive behavior and a greater tendency to recur. In contrast, the dentigerous cyst exhibits an indolent biological behavior. The management currently recommended for odontogenic lesions with aggressive biological behavior remains controversial, and in many cases mutilating surgical procedures are performed due to the extent of the surgery. Marsupialization, a form of decompression, is another method for treating such lesions. The aim of marsupialization is to reduce the size of the lesion so that less extensive surgery can be performed.
