With the advent of telecommunication technologies and the development of news production, an image has become indispensable part of the political sphere. The mass media are instrumental in shaping images of other people and governments because the foreign audience obtains information concerning other countries from newspa- pers, TV and Internet resources. It is significant to note that the success in a foreign policy is closely related to the promoted image of a country. The formed image determines the way the public per- ceives the country. In this respect, a correct image can sway opinion and bolster the reputation of a country. A straightened national image may pave the way for creating a favorable condition for tourism, the international job market, the political relations and fortify the economy. Conversely, an unfavorable coverage of events in press may stir negative emotions and considerably damage the image of a country, which may spell disaster for its economy and deteriorate the relations between nations. Therefore, an image serves as a tool of affecting the public opinion.
