The history of the development of regional newspaper periodicals in the Soviet period has not been fully studied to date. Among researchers, interest in this issue has recently become more and more pronounced. This is due to the special role of the periodical press in the history of socio-economic and cultural formation of Russia's regions. This study represents an attempt to analyze the process of formation of the newspaper periodicals in 1917-1991 on the territory of the largest industrial region of the country - Kuzbass. Special attention is paid to issues of creating and strengthening material and technical base of periodicals, distribution system of newspaper media, organization of training of professional staff. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the process of formation and development of Kuzbass newspapers in the Soviet period are investigated. The work is intended for researchers of Siberian periodicals history, students of journalism and wide range of readerreaders.
