High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ngô Ðình Nhu, (October 7, 1910 November 2, 1963), was the younger brother and chief political advisor of South Vietnam's first President, Ngô Ðình Di m. Nhu was widely regarded as the architect of the Ngo family's nepotistic and autocratic rule over South Vietnam from 1955 to 1963. Although Nhu did not hold a formal executive position, he commanded private paramilitary groups, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam Special Forces, and controlled the secret police. All of these organisations were almost exclusively used to intimidate or liquidate dissidents rather than defend the country. An opium addict and admirer of Adolf Hitler, Nhu's organizations modelled incorporated both Nazi and communist style and methodology. In his early age, Nhu was quiet and bookish individual who showed little inclination towards the political path taken by his elder brothers.
