Ann Carol Ulrich (Miller) was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in the suburb of Monona, where she was known as Ann Schumacher. She loved writing fiction as a child and completed two novels before finishing high school. After earning her degree in Creative Writing at Michigan State University, she moved with her husband, Jeff Ulrich, to Colorado and helped raise three sons. It was while living in East Lansing that she was inspired to write the first draft of this book, which was then called The Ghost of Pelton Manor, which is set in Michigan. She has worked for various newspapers around the country and has many interests, which - besides writing and publishing - include music, art, nature, and raising chickens. She loves living in the mountains, where she resides in western Colorado. Her favorite genre is romantic suspense, which includes Sonata Summer and Rainbow Majesty, the latter of which was a Finalist in the Eric Hoffer Book Awards. She also writes for young adults and has produced two memoirs, Throughout All Time and Stepping Forth, An American Girl Coming of Age in the '60s.
