Philippe Fernand Balla stammt aus dem kleinen Dorf Ossoemekeneng in Ngomedzap, Kamerun, und ist ein professioneller Philosophielehrer. Er studierte am Seminar von Mbalmayo und an der Universität Yaoundé (E.N.S.), bevor er sich für eine Doktorarbeit an der Universität Picardie in Amiens einschrieb. Das Schreiben gehörte zu seiner ersten Liebe.
