Surviving Gangs, Radicals, Serial Killers, and Kidnappers Based on the author's real-life experiences, including those as an undercover agent infiltrating radical groups intent on overthrowing the United States government, No Gun, No Badge vividly recounts the diverse and dangerous career of L.A.P.D.'s Matt Perez during some of the most brutal years of crime in Los Angeles. It presents a provocative, often harrowing story, beginning with the foundational experiences from Matt's childhood through the teenage years that helped to mold his personality and eventually steer him into the dangerous pit of law enforcement and survival. Although the character of Matt Perez is fictional, his experiences are real. "Guerrero's No Gun, No Badge is a brazen reminder of the violent underworld of crime and the daily sacrifices made by cops so the rest of us don't have to see it!" - Brent Morris, EdD, Commander (Retired), Ventura County Sheriff's Office "In No Gun, No Badge, Richard Guerrero shows how crime does not pay in this no-nonsense tale of a lawman who lived and breathed justice for public safety!" - Jonathan Huang, Esq., Former Deputy Commissioner, California Board of Parole Hearings "Guerrero has created a spellbound, realistic, no holds barred journey inside the perilous world of big city undercover police work. Awesome!" - Richard A Meraz, Captain (Retired), Los Angeles Police Department

Autorenporträt
ALFONSO RICHARD GUERRERO spent forty years in law enforcement, beginning in 1974 on undercover narcotics assignment for the Los Angeles Police Department, later becoming a deep-cover agent assigned to infiltrate organizations espousing the violent overthrow of the U.S. government. In 1980 Guerrero joined the LAPD's elite Metropolitan Division, where he engaged in special crime suppression duties throughout the city, as well as dignitary and presidential protection. After joining the LAPD's SWAT platoon in 1989, he took part in several high-profile operations, including an emergency assault at LAX against the infamous "Rainbow Man." Guerrero later served the California Horse Racing Board and the California Department of Justice Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse, and was appointed by the governor to the Board of Parole Hearings, were he served as Commissioner.
