Marc Augé (Poitiers, 1935) es un reconocido antropólogo francés. Acuñó el término "no-lugar" para referirse a los lugares de transitoriedad, espacios intercambiables donde el ser humano es anónimo, como los medios de transporte, las grandes cadenas hoteleras, los supermercados, e incluso los campos de refugiados. Fue profesor y director de estudios en la École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) de París, de la que fue presidente desde 1985 hasta 1995. Gedisa ha publicado la mayoría de sus libros, entre los que destacan: Los no-lugares, Las formas del olvido, El viaje imposible, El porvenir de los terrícolas y Elogio de la bicicleta.
