Patricia MacDonald was born in January 1949 and grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from high school in 1966, from Upsala College 1970, and received her MS degree in Journalism from Boston University in 1974. Patricia worked as the editor of three soap opera magazines in New York City before writing her first novel, The Unforgiven, which was published in 1980. Patricia has been married since 1983 to writer, bookstore owner, and judo coach, Art Bourgeau. They live in Cape May, New Jersey and have one daughter, Sera, who is a costume designer for theatre and television based in New York City.
