Noise is an environmental problem at global level. Population exposed to high noise levels is likely increased. Noise protection is beyond noise control engineering solution and or physics, it is becoming an interdisciplinary subject. This publication shows urban sound planning, healthy city and participatory approaches. These approaches raise the importance of sound to increase the environment quality, of green areas in urban areas positively affecting the inhabitants' health and of people involvement in noise data collection for a better soundscape environment. There is a considerable number of publications concerning key approaches, concepts, and case studies. This publication can serve as an academic supplementary material for the noise protection subject and for any general educational training course on noise.
