Pakistan is a developing country where natural resources such as NTFP's have direct and indirect contribution to the rural and national economy. The book undergoes comprehensive inquiry to probe the extent to which the NTFP's have impact on health, education, income, rural and cultural event of the rural community of district SWAT, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PAKISTAN. The potential for sustainable livelihood development in the region is assessed by analysing the forest dweller's livelihood assets, productive activities and perceptions of the forest livelihood. Moreover, this study explores the working and efficiency of the Forest Department and local indigenous organizations, mechanisms for access to and use of forest resources and prerequisites for the success of local organizations as managers and defenders of the forest.

Mr. Raj Muhammad is a Director NTFP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Forest Department. He obtained his M.Sc (Hon¿s) in Agriculture (Entomology) from Agricultural University, Peshawar. In 2012 he also did Master in Forestry Extension from Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad.
