Noory Abramson has found the love of her life in Saint Nicholas and meaningful work at a children's shelter. Yet, as her wisecracking demon friend, Damascus says, "Taking up with immortals is always a problem." Determined to stay with Nicholas forever, she sets out on a quest for immortality, and Damascus accompanies her as a bodyguard-annoying the hell out of Nick and her ancient disciple stepfather, John. As a descendant of the Holy Family, even Noory's hair is valuable and can be used for the most unsavory black magic. Thus, knocking on the doors of witches, shamans, and other magical practitioners might not be the best idea. Worse, even the combined wisdom and strength of John and Nick's nearly 4,000 years might not be enough to help her, when an even darker force offers her the allure of all she seeks-immortality through a power that might be stronger than all of them and will never let her go. Yes, taking up with immortals is always a problem.
