Dean S. Stansfield has long been a student of the area's history. The author of Arcadia's Lake Placid, he has a home on the lake and, for more than a decade, has collected vintage photographs, postcards, and ephemera. To create North Elba and Whiteface Mountain, he worked closely with the town historians and used his own images and many from private collections.
