A little book with a big message Most Christians know the biblical story of "Jonah and the whale," but how many of us have thought deeply about its life-changing message and global implications? There's a lot more going on under the surface than most people realize. What is God's overarching plan for the world? How does He view people who don't know Him? What is our role, and how can we expect people to respond? How will this journey impact us as messengers? Jonah's themes reverberate through the rest of Scripture: God is sovereign, just and loving. He calls His people to align our hearts with His and to join Him in His compassionate pursuit of a world under condemnation. God has a beautiful, unnerving, exhilarating, and sometimes frustrating way of surprising us with His superior (but often uncomfortable) plan. There's no better way to become like Jesus than to join Him on His mission of mercy to a lost world, whether that's in our own neighborhoods or at the very ends of the earth. We may wonder at times if some people can-or even should-be saved. In the book of Jonah, God thunders a resounding "Yes!"
