The monograph is devoted to the study of lexical originality of the novels of the French writer Marguerite Duras and peculiarities of its transmission in translation. In modern translation studies, one of the most important and topical problems is the theoretical and practical aspects of fiction translation, and above all the peculiarities of the lexicon of literary works. Novels of the XX century, especially such directions as symbolism, theater of absurdity, new novel, etc., abounding in language games, symbolization, metaphorization of vocabulary, represent a great difficulty for translators. This circumstance led us to choose Marguerite Duras, a bright representative of the French "new novel", as the research material. This book analyzes the lexical means and stylistic techniques that make up the lexical originality of M. Duras' works, and the peculiarities of their translation into Russian and English. This scientific publication is intended, first of all, for linguists, literary critics and translators, as well as for all those who are interested in the problems of translation and interpretation of the fiction text.
