I volunteered for service with the Australian Infantry Forces in the Vietnam War in 1967 after lying about my age. (Put up my age by one year). After serving in Vietnam with 1RAR (First Battalion Royal Australian Regiment) I returned to Australia and was diagnosed as suffering from chronic PTSD. It was suggested to me that I immediately begin and complete teriary studies in order to keep my mind focussed on the positive and thereby be able to manage my PTSD. In turn, that resulted in my having various engineering qualifications to the point where I am an Officer Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia. (OMIEAust.) My studies are currently in the field of Arts .
