The present work describes the results of numerical investigation on the fatigue behaviour of an I beam welded to circular hollow section (CHS) column X-joint. The aim of this study is to investigate the stress concentration factors (SCFs) in this type of welded joint when being subjected to axial loading, in-plane bending (IPB) and out-of-plane bending (OPB). The general purpose finite element software package Abaqus CAE was employed to perform the analysis.
